Introduction
October 8th, 2009Hi, my name is Don Plotner and my home is currently in foreclosure. I am sure this will fall on deaf ears and that it may turn most of you off, but I have to tell my story and over the next few post I will do just that.
I am a General Contractor that built homes for a living, I worked for a local Contractor and was making a living, I was able to pay my bills and have a decent life. When the bottom feel out of housing development, that left me without a job. I worked for over year for free in hopes to things would come around. They didn't. I was unable to make my mortgage payments and my home went into foreclosure.
I financed my home through Countrywide that has now been bought out by Bank of America. When the government unveiled their plan to help make homes affordable, I was excited, I thought I would be able to save my house and resume my payments. I hoped that my loan would be modified and I would be able to afford the payments again and that the equity that I lost in my home with the falling housing prices I would be able to modifiy the principle amount on the loan.
I called Bank of America and applied for the program and that is where by fiasco begins. I will write more about this in the coming days but the say the least it is not as simple as they make it out to be.
